Use counting sticks to distribute and pay the points after each game in the traditional way.

These sticks are not made of cheap plastic but of carefully cut bamboo with painted dots. They are handcrafted in Germany.

One set of these counting sticks consists of:

• 6 light sticks with 5 red lines (at each end) - equivalent to e.g. 50 points
• 18 light sticks with one black line (at each end) - equivalent to e.g. 10 points
• 20 dark sticks without any lines - equivalent to e.g. 1 point.

Counting sticks are distributed evenly amongst the players at the start of the game. The sticks of these sets are suitable for calculation according to Chinese Official Rules (CO) aka Mahjong Competition Rules (MCR). They make for 500 points, that's usually sufficient for one player. For 4 players you'll need 4 of these sets!

After each game the points are calculated and payed to each other by exchanging the respective types and numbers of sticks.
